Accomplishments

  • Attained training as a Climate Reality Leader from the Climate Reality Training held in Los Angeles, USA (August 2018). The training headed by former US Vice President, Al Gore, equipped a select group of world leaders and next generation environmental activists, with vast knowledge and resources to lead the climate solution and mitigation efforts in our own countries.
  • Represented Jamaica at the Forestry Law Enforcement and Governance (FLEG) month long training seminar held in Beijing, China (2017). Participants from countries worldwide were certified after being trained to identify various issues in the forestry and log trade industries. Lectures included but were not limited to log harvesting laws and illegal trade. Additionally plant propagation, biotechnology and processes in the ornamental and bamboo industry were covered throughout.

Projects Community Service

  • The JAMBIN- Prototype sea waste bin- collects and filters floating debris from the surface of any body of water it is placed in.
  • The Oyster Project- ongoing research for the utilization of oysters to filter contaminated water in the Kingston Harbor.
  • Founded and managed the View My World Photography Camp; a summer camp for young children and teens interested in learning the rudiments of and advocacy through photography. The camp is environmentally themed yearly with lessons surrounding the use of photography, videography and animation to enact change.
  • Served as mentor for the GirlsCare Jamaica non-profit organization; a girl's climate action for resilience and empowerment initiative. An annual 6-month long project focused on enhancing young Caribbean women's confidence and technical capabilities as youth advocates for climate action.
  • Mentored and provided support for at risk/vulnerable youth under the Dream Jamaica & Youth Opportunities Unlimited non-profits. This initiative prepares Jamaican youth for the transition from secondary to tertiary level education and the world of work.
