During a three-month project following Hurricane Beryl, I was selected to support the post-disaster restoration efforts for Flow’s telecommunications network. My responsibilities included identifying and isolating damage to critical telecom infrastructure by analyzing system alerts and updating outage reports. I played a key role in maintaining real-time outage trackers, ensuring accurate and timely information for decision-makers. Additionally, I was instrumental in routing service tickets to field technicians, helping facilitate the prompt restoration of internet connectivity for impacted consumers. My contributions were vital to the efficient recovery of services for thousands of customers, particularly in severely affected areas like St. Elizabeth. I worked primarily during nights, days off, and public holidays, while consistently meeting the company’s daily productivity targets during my regular shifts. My dedication to meeting urgent restoration timelines was recognized by the company, and our team was celebrated as “Heroes” for our unwavering commitment throughout the project, which successfully concluded in September 2024.
