Summary

As the sole internationally board-certified Lifestyle Medicine physician in Jamaica and the Caribbean Commmonwealth, I bring a pioneering vision and unparalleled expertise in transforming healthcare education. With a steadfast commitment to health and wellness and extensive experience as a medical doctor, I am poised to introduce Lifestyle Medicine as a groundbreaking speciality area at the University of the West Indies, UWI. My extensive medical doctor background and passion for teaching and advancing medical education uniquely equip me to inspire and guide future medical doctors.

I aim to integrate Lifestyle Medicine into the UWI curriculum, offering third-year medical students an innovative and viable career path that aligns with local and global health trends. By spearheading the development of a Lifestyle Medicine curriculum, I plan to enrich the medical education landscape in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean, providing students with the tools to promote preventive healthcare and holistic practices. This will not only make them part of a global movement in healthcare but also connect them to a larger community of healthcare professionals around the world.

In the long term, I plan to establish a postgraduate diploma, doctor of Medicine, DM programme or post-DM fellowship in Lifestyle Medicine at UWI Mona. This forward-thinking programme will position the university as a leader in this emerging field, fostering a new generation of physicians equipped to address the root causes of chronic diseases through evidence-based, lifestyle-driven interventions.

I am committed to leveraging my expertise and passion to contribute to the evolution of healthcare education at UWI Mona, ensuring that the next generation of physicians is well-prepared to lead in the ever-evolving landscape of medicine. This personal commitment aligns perfectly with the university's mission, and I will gladly dedicate myself to championing efforts to make this a reality.
